My husband and I picked up some pastries at Serano Bakery recently and we loved them.
Everything looked beautiful and prices were great. We got a piece of chocolate cake ($2.30), a strawberry tart ($2.30), and a pastry called Kok, which I can best describe as an almond cake and custard sandwich with chocolate on top ($3.45). The Kok reminded me a bit of a Boston Cream Donut in the way it looks.
I thought the chocolate cake had a bit too much icing, but my husband loved it. I wouldn't get the chocolate cake again, but I would definitely get the other ones. The strawberry tart crust was really dense and rich. It tasted like shortbread. The custard was creamy but not too sweet.
I don't know when I'll ever be in Laval again, but if I am I'll probably stop into Serano to get some sweets :) -

What a delicious pastries, wonderful variety, and awesome prices !!!
We had a chocolate parfait and a cornet. They were so good and fresh. Not heavy or too sweet. We all loved it!!!
The bad thing was the service I got from the lady who took care of us. She was so rude with me I couldn't understand why I was talking to her in English and she started being upset just because I didn't speak in French, then I asked her that I want this dessert and the other one and I show her with my finger and then she said that she doesn't understand my language she was extremely rude but I put her on her place because I reply to her with what exactly I wanted and the way I want it, in an educated way.
Then she noticed that she didn't do right, and she gave me what I want which is the two desserts that I end up buying here. Even the other customers that were in front of her saw how rude she was with me and they looked at me like oh my god. -

The service is awful!!I am a regular customer because I really like their desserts!!But every time I go the ladies are disrespectful and in a bad mood..I went today early to buy some bread cause I am visiting family out of the city and they wouldn't let me buy more than 4 because apparently I have to order in advance..I said they should post on the wall so customers should know in advance and the lady replied that "I am not making the rules"...another time I was choosing the cake and the lady was rushing me saying to hurry up...usually there"s a younger person very unpleasant and an older lady with pretty much the same attitude....I am thinking of switching to ambrosia ,their desserts are not that good but the service is so much better!!!worst Customer service

Love their cake!!
Especially the almond and vanilla one, cant get enough i could eat it everyday!
The only bummer is that they dont write special messages on the cakes.. So if u order a cake and have "Happy birthday" written on it or anything at all, its not happening.. And i dont understand why but oh well. -
